1.1 Project approach
PIKAS is a cooperation project between the universities of Dortmund and Münster, the Ministry of Education of NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia) and the "Deutsche Telekom Stiftung" (Deutsche Telekom Foundation). It is regarded as a successive example for public-private-partnership. The project focuses on realising the standards of school mathematics named by the Kultusministerkonferenz (Conference of Cultural Ministers) and on the interplay named in the curricula between process-related competencies (also named 'general mathematical competencies') and content-related competencies (Inhaltsbezogene Kompetenzen) based on the encouragement (Anregung) of subject related School development (abbr.: PIKAS).
